Arthur Becker-Weidman, Ph.D. received his MSW from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland’s Institute for Child Study. He has achieved Diplomat Status in Child Psychology and Forensic Psychology from the American Board of Psychological Specialties. He is a Registered Clinician with the Association for the Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children.
Dr. Arthur Becker-Weidman has been treating the families of adoptive and foster children for over two decades. As Director of the Center for Family Development he consults with Department’s of Social Services, Residential Treatment Centers, and Mental Health Clinics throughout the US, Canada, Singapore, and Internationally. Dr. Arthur Becker-Weidman’s work has focused on the evaluation and treatment of adopted and foster children and their families, Complex-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Alcohol Related Neurological Dysfunction (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder or FAS). He provides training and workshops to parents and professionals across the U.S. and internationally. He has consulted with the Canadian government in Ontario and with the government of Singapore. The results of an empirical study demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach he practices, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, can be found in several other publications in professional peer-reviewed publications
Dr. Arthur Becker-Weidman is on the Board of Directors of the Association for the Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children, serves as a Vice-President for Clinical Issues, serves on the Research Committee and Training Committee, and chairs the Registration Committee. He is an adjunct Clinical Professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Arthur Becker-Weidman is on the Board of the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute®© and is a Certified Therapist, Consultant, and Trainer of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy®. He is the founder of The Attachment-Focused Treatment Institute.
Dr. Arthur Becker-Weidman has published many scholarly papers, six books, four DVDs, and regularly presents at international and national conferences. He consults with therapists, parents, and several child treatment agencies, school districts, departments of social services, and governments in the Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Slovakia, Singapore, the UK, and the US.
Susan Becker-Weidman, LCSW provides counseling services to older adolescents and adults. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from Catholic University. Susan has expertise in treating depression, anxiety, or other mental health and relationship issues.
Susan's focus is on helping patients who are experiencing losses such as a significant romantic breakup or the death of a loved one. She offers parenting advice, couples therapy, marital therapy and adoption related therapy including home studies.Emily Becker-Weidman, Ph.D. is a child and adolescent psychologist with expertise in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-Focused Family Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her internship at the NYU/Bellevue Hospital Center in NY.
Dr. Emily Becker-Weidman is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), the American Psychological Association (APA), the New York City Adoption/Foster Care Therapist Network, the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association (NYC-CBT), and the New Jersey Psychological Association. She has presented research at several national conferences, co-authored three book chapters on child and adolescent psychopathology, and published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.
